Why come to North Beach? We're solid.
We're empowering academically.
We're future-oriented. We are a community of learners who have the best interest
of our students at heart.
Blended Kindergarten
We offer a blended kindergarten for students with mild developmental delays.
This classroom is limited to seventeen students and has one teacher and an aid.
Spectrum Inclusion
Our certified Spectrum program offers an advanced learning curriculum for
eligible students in grades one through five. The inclusion aspect of this
program offers children who do not test into Spectrum the opportunity to receive
the advanced learning curriculum.
Seattle
School District Advanced Learning Information
Linguistic Remedies
Our teachers use Linguistic Remedies to strengthen students’ reading skills and
identify reading difficulties early. This method helps children understand
reading and writing by teaching the sounds of letters, letter combinations and
words through hearing, seeing and speaking.
All-School Math Block
Students in first through fifth grades are taught math based on their ability, not their grade level.
In addition to our classroom teachers, we have three other teachers that take
groups for math instruction.
North Beach Chronicle
Applied learning is at the heart of our instructional programs – students
publish three newspapers and a literary magazine each year. WASL writing scores
increased from 79% of students meeting standards in 2003 to 88.6% in 2004. WASL
reading scores increased from 85.4% in 2003 to 97.1% in 2004. Our math scores
increased from 83.3% in 2003 to 91.4% in 2004. Our students have fun while they
are learning!
Full Time Librarian/Technologist
Our librarian Tim Platt is dedicated to turning our library into a fine
tuned learning environment. We plan to have computer stations for up to
thirty students at a time.
Award-winning Physical Education
Program
Our P.E. teacher. Rett Hartmann, has designed a physical education program that
reaches beyond dodge ball and running laps. He incorporates archery,
bowling, unicycling and roller skating into his curriculum.
PTA Funded Specialists
Our PTA-funded specialists in art, music, journalism and Spanish provide a
well-rounded curriculum. Learn more about these specialist on our
Academic
Giving Campaign
page.
Kindergarten
We offer full-day kindergarten, but can accommodate half-day students. Sliding
fee scale is available. Fee is waved for students eligible for free or
reduced-price meals. There is no fee for half-day kindergarten.
