Academic Giving Campaign (AGC)

The Academic Giving Campaign (AGC) is the major fundraising effort for our school’s academic enhancements. Through the AGC every student is able to experience Art, Music, Saxon Math, the A.C.E. tutoring program and other educational enhancements. To meet the expenses incurred for these programs, our goal this year is to raise $55,000.  Since 2002, North Beach families have been generously giving to this program.  Without the support of our wonderful community these programs would not exist.

Here is a look at the programs the AGC has earmarked funds for:

• Art Our Art Specialist helps children gain skills in visual expression and the principles of design thru a variety of fun and educational art projects.
  

• Music The skills gained and music taught is enjoyed by our community at our all-school winter and spring concerts.  Our Music Specialist provides a creative approach to music helping our students build performance skills and self-esteem.  In music classes, all students are exposed to a variety of musical principles.  Our 3rd thru 5th graders are provided musical instruction on select instruments.

• A.C.E Program North Beach is proud to provide the Academic Coaching for Excellence program to eligible students.  This tutoring program provides one on one academic coaching and small-group curriculum support.  All students benefit from the reduced class sizes during mentoring and coaching sessions.  Teachers surveyed called the program “highly-effective” and appreciate the benefits it provides to their classes.

• Saxon Math With our Saxon math curriculum, math WASL scores went from 68% in 1999 to 92% in 2007.  This spiral curriculum reinforces old concepts while introducing new ones.  This helps children retain information and feel successful.  Most importantly our students say they like math and many claim it is their favorite subject.

• Educational Environment North Beach contributes to the 5th Grade Camp and other environmental projects throughout the year.

North Beach Elementary is a great success on all levels – test scores, special programs, community support and parent involvement.  Our school continues to be one of the top three in the district.  We know the AGC helps us boast of these achievements.  Through a direct giving campaign, there is no auction, no dinner or bake sale attached to the campaign.  This means there is no overhead.  Funds raised pay directly for the AGC programs and the Resident Specialists.

We are so grateful to our North Beach families for remaining committed to these programs.  We urge you to please join us in supporting the AGC this year.  Without your support, we can not have these important programs at our school.  It is our dream to have 100% participation in this fundraising campaign and will offer for the first time donation installments that you can make when it best suits your family.  So please give now to the AGC and make a difference for the whole year.
