Academic Giving Campaign (AGC) Thank you North Beach families and supporters. As long as everyone sends in the money they have pledged we have met our AGC funding needs for the 2012-13 school year. A special thanks to the Ballard Masons who have again stepped up with $3000 to help fund our AGC - we couldn't do it with out you! If you know a Mason, thank them personally!
The Academic Giving Campaign (AGC) is the major fundraising effort for our school’s academic enhancements. Through the AGC, every student is able to experience Art, Music, Saxon Math, the A.C.E. Tutoring program and other educational enhancements, such as environmental education, technological learning aides and enhancements and special training for teachers. To meet the expenses incurred for these programs, our goal is to raise $52,700 by November 16th, 2012. Since 2002, North Beach families have generously given to this program. Without the support of our wonderful community these programs would not exist.
Here’s how the two parts of the Golden Envelope Campaign work: Golden Envelope Classroom Competition: Congratulations P5 - winners of the Golden Envelope contest! Fill out and return the form sent home October 11th via Kidmail by October 31. The first classroom to return 100% of their forms will receive an AGC-sponsored party! Your envelope counts toward the class party simply for being returned to school.Giving is encouraged, but not required. If you have misplaced your form, copies can be found in the AGC box in the school office or can be printed here. Note Golden Envelope when sending it in. Golden Envelope Raffle: To help meet the AGC’s goal by November 1, we are offering raffle prizes to encourage giving. Anyone who gives at the levels below per child at North Beach is entered to win. If you already donated via the PTA Family Form, you will be entered into the appropriate raffle. If you donate more, it will be added to your previous donation. 1. $250 or more per child – Great Wolf Lodge Mini-Vacation Enter to win a 1 night stay at Great Wolf Lodge for up to 4 people AND a $275 gift card to use at the Lodge during your stay or toward an additional night! 2. $175-249 per child – Seahawks Memorabilia Enter to win a Braylon Edwards autographed Seahawks hat!
Here is a look at the programs the AGC will fund this year:
Music Our Music Specialist provides a creative approach to music helping our students build performance skills and self-esteem. In music classes, all students are exposed to a variety of musical principles. Students’ growing musical skills are enjoyed by our community at our all-school winter and spring concerts. Our 4th and 5th graders are provided musical instruction on select instruments.
Art Our Art Specialist helps children gain skills in visual expression and the principles of design through a variety of fun and educational art projects.
Tutoring North Beach is proud to provide the Academic Coaching for Excellence program to eligible students. This tutoring program provides one on one academic coaching and small-group curriculum support. All students benefit from the reduced class sizes during mentoring and coaching sessions. Teachers surveyed called the program “highly-effective” and appreciate the benefits it provides to their classes.
Technology - North Beach Elementary is focused on using Technology as a way to enhance learning, affording teachers tools that allow for a fun and interactive classroom while also providing students exposure to new technology. Our teachers and staff have asked us to provide them with "Write to Learn" software that will significantly aid both teachers and students in the writing process.
Saxon Math With our Saxon math curriculum, math WASL scores went from 68% in 1999 to 92% in 2007. The spiral curriculum reinforces old concepts while introducing new ones, helping children retain information and feel successful. Most importantly our students say they like math and many claim it is their favorite subject.
North Beach Elementary is a great success on all levels – test scores, special programs, community support and parent involvement. Our AGC is a direct giving program, which means there is virtually no overhead. Funds raised pay directly for the AGC programs and the Resident Specialists.
Without your support, we cannot have these important programs at our school. Because all children benefit from these programs, we hope to have 100% participation - meaning every family at North Beach gives what they can, as generously as they can. And remember, every gift is tax-deductible.
