An Important Message from our Principal RJ Sammons
Hello North Beach Families, by now you should have received an official district notification letting you know that I have accepted the Principal position at Broadview Thomson K-8. I notified our teachers and the rest of our staff this afternoon. I want to reach out to you personally as I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years as your principal. This is a natural professional growth step for me as it offers the opportunity to lead both a middle and elementary school.
I have been blessed and will remain thankful to have served my first Principalship at North Beach and our learning community will remain in my heart as I continue to grow as an educational leader. We have accomplished so much together and I am confident that we will continue to thrive with your continued support. I want to thank you for welcoming me and supporting our work over the past four years—you have set the bar extremely high!
Our Superintendent has appointed Julie Cox, current principal at Catherine Blaine K-8, and she will start her new leadership role at North Beach effective on July 1st 2014.
I will continue to focus on our work this spring and planning for next year which will help ensure another smooth start to a school year. I plan to intentionally collaborate with Ms. Cox this spring and we will arrange various dates for you to meet and get to know her. Please know that this was not an easy decision as North Beach has become like family to me. I will communicate more about this transition throughout this spring. Thank you again for your push and support over these past four years!
Sincerely, (still) Your Proud Principal,

New Volunteer Requirements
Thank you for volunteering at North Beach. All volunteers must complete the online course on Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention: http://tiny.cc/asmsps. This is a new requirement beginning February 1, 2014. Because we are transitioning into this new online requirement phase, current volunteers have until the end of the school year to view the Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention video and complete the online course; and provide the school with a copy of your certificate after completion. Viewing and completing this video is required only once while at North Beach.
All volunteers are also required to read and sign the Volunteer Handbook. There is a copy of the Volunteer Handbook in the school office or by clicking the link above. Please provide the school with a copy of the agreement form (last two pages of the Volunteer Handbook, immediately prior to the Appendix.) The school office has blank copies of the signature page as well.
It will be helpful for you as a volunteer to complete these tasks sooner rather than later. There is very helpful information in the video that protects you as a volunteer. Thank you for your participation and your volunteerism at Seattle Public Schools.
