Room 9 & Room 5 are Reading Buddies!

Room 9 and room 5 have started working together as reading buddies.  This year, because Art is scheduled for every other week, we have been meeting our buddies on the alternate weeks. For the last several weeks we have alternated visiting room 5 or having our buddies come to room 9 to get to know our reading buddies.

Over the course of the year, the fourth graders will try to transition their buddy from being a listener to being a reader.  As fourth graders become more expert at reading themselves, they will gradually start to ask better questions to prompt discussion about the books. They will look for more detail in stories they enjoyed many years ago.  This will help the reading buddy to grow as a reader as well.

Reading buddies are meeting for about 25 minutes each Friday, after the last recess.
