The Watchdog Dads held the 2nd Annual Kids and Dads Pizza Night on September 10th in the Cafeteria. The attendees watched the brand new Watchdog Dad 2009-2010 DVD and dined on Pizza. The event was a great success with 67 dads signing up to serve as a Watch Dog Dad by nights end. Hats off to Principal Joanne Bowers, Cheryl and Debbie in the Main Office, Librarian Tim Platt, Custodians Ray and Frank, PTA President Jo Ann Burrett, Patrick Moore and Terri Booth for their generous assistance, without which the event would not have been possible!
Many other Dads were unable to attend the event however they have indicated they will be signing up soon. The sign-up calendar is posted just to the left of the Main hallway outside Room 6. For those Fathers and Father Types (Step Dads, Grand Dads, Uncles) of North Beach Students who were unable to attend, there are still plenty of days available to serve as a positive male role model for North Beach Students. Order forms for the Watch Dog Dad shirts and the required State Patrol Background check are available in the Main Office. Shirt orders and checks payable to the North Beach PTA are due by no later than September 21, 2009 so we can save on shipping expenses. If you still have your WDD shirt from last year, you do not need to order another shirt unless you want another style to compliment your wardrobe.
Background check forms are due immediately so they can be processed. You cannot serve as a WDD until your background check has been processed. Fathers and Father types who served as a WDD last year usually do not need another background check, as they are kept on file with the District for several years before they expire. If you have any questions about the status of your existing background check, please call Cheryl in the Main Office at (206) 252-1510 for clarification. If you are unable to reach Cheryl, please call Watch Dog Coordinator Bill Booth at (206) 854-8822 for assistance.
Last year, the Watch Dog Dad program generated 108 service days or 648 Volunteer hours at North Beach. The 2009-2010 goal is 150 service days or 900 volunteer hours. If you want to serve as a positive male role model and get better connected with your student's education, please join us in this worthwhile and rewarding program.
Sincerely,
Bill Booth
