Walk-A-Jog-A-Move-A-Thon (WJMT)

Picture

Dear North Beach Students, Parents, Guardians and Neighbors:

Every year the PTA will hosts the North Beach annual WJMT. The money raised goes to the PTA general fund to pay for programs, such as, technology, art, music, science fair, math night and tutoring. Our WJMT fundraising is essential to the continuation of these programs.

What is it?
Every child in the school participates in this fun event. Kids walk, jog, or move around the track set up at the north end of the school. They see how many laps they can complete in the allotted time. Some kids go for the most laps in their grade while others do the minimum to earn a free popsicle. Both are all right by us.

How do we raise money?
Students sign up sponsors to donate money for each lap that he or she completes or to pledge a single amount. Examples: $2 per lap or a $25 “set” pledge. Sponsors actually give the money (often based on the student’s goal) before the event happens. The money is all collected and counted on the WJM day.
Here is the average number of laps from last year by grade (5 laps=1 mile):
  • Kindergarten: 16 laps
  • 1st Grade: 17 laps
  • 2nd Grade: 20 laps
  • 3rd Grade: 22 laps
  • 4th and 5th Grade: 23 laps
Pledge packets will be delivered through KidMail the week of May 4th. If your employer has matching funds for charitable donations, please include the appropriate form with the pledge packet. 501c3 tax-deductible forms will also be included in the pledge packet and may be given to sponsors upon request.
