What is the Big Give? The Big Give is North Beach Elementary’s second largest fundraiser. This direct giving campaign funds the educational programs, curriculum, staff positions, and resources that help our North Beach Seals thrive in their classrooms. These programs and staff positions are made possible by support at all levels from the North Beach community. We hope you’ll consider a contribution at whatever level is meaningful to your family.

What Does The Big Give Funding Go Towards?
These programs and staff positions will not exist without community support
  • Academic Interventionist: The North Beach PTA funds an Academic Interventionist to allow the school to provide support for math and reading. Our Academic Interventionist consults with teachers and administration to support students who would benefit from enrichment or reteaching. They offer support based on student needs and collaborate with each grade level team to continually monitor student progress. 
  • Nurse: The North Beach PTA funds additional time with our school nurse, ensuring our students have access to their services. 
  • Counselor: PTA funding benefits all North Beach students by increasing the amount of time we have a counselor on campus. As the school counselor, I visit all classrooms to deliver important SEL curriculum on topics such as Bullying Prevention, Child Safety, Stress Management, Career Exploration and Peaceful Problem Solving. I meet with students individually and in small groups to provide counseling and crisis support as needed and am available to consult and share resources with families and staff.  PTA Funding allows me to provide more support for more students and families and come closer to the recommended ratio of 250 students to 1 (full-time) counselor. - Ms. Reid, Counselor 
  • Special Education: The material needs for a successful special education program are vast and diverse.  Our incredible special education program here at North Beach relies on PTA funding to provide the unique learning supports that are necessary in our specialized classrooms.  This funding helps to create a warm, welcoming environment for ALL students. This funding is how the PTA shows that all are welcome at North Beach. - Mr. Fitch Focus 3-5
  • Classrooms: North Beach would not be the school it is without our wonderful PTA and the support they provide us. PTA fundraisers like The Big Give provides our students with fun and educational experiences, like bringing Thistle Theatre to North Beach. This winter our K-2 students will experience and learn about Bunraku, a variation of the ancient Japanese style of puppetry, when Thistle Theatre brings their production of Winnie the Pooh to our school. PTA funding also provides students with what they need to be successful, whether it’s sensory tools, educational games, technology resources or scholarships for field trips, our students have access to what they need. When the district cut funds for Kindergarten Jump Start this year, the PTA jumped right in and funded two days for us, which were truly invaluable. - Ms. Coutts, Kindergarten
  • Art: The PTA fully funds art supplies. "The PTA's support and generosity have been essential for our art program. Thank you!"  - Izabela Gabrielson, Art Teacher 
  • Library:  PTA funding is vital to the growth and maintenance of our school library.  It affords us the opportunity to keep our library collection current and relevant for our growing community.  PTA funding has also provided us the ability to purchase digital tools/resources that benefit our students and staff, as well as, provide a variety of academic resources/databases such as IXL, PebbleGo Next, headphones, sound system updates, eBooks, Sphero Bots (Coding robots) and much more. - Lucy Bakker, Librarian 
  • ​PE: PTA funding impacts North Beach's Physical Education program in huge ways by allowing me to create special experiences for our students. PTA Fundraisers like The Big Give make it possible to update our school's equipment, make improvements to technology, and allows for flexibility when I have ideas for creating new experiences throughout the school year. This flexibility keeps PE curriculum interesting and fun for our North Beach students.- Coach Willis, PE 
  • Classroom Technology: Technology upgrades improve student and teacher experiences in our libraries and classrooms everyday. PTA funds more than $5,000 a year to pay for access to software programs like IXL, PebbleGo, and Learning Ally. 
  • Teacher Allotments: Teacher allotments allow teachers to create a work and education space that is best for their classrooms. The PTA offers $400 for returning classroom teachers and $500 for teachers new to North Beach. 
  • Teacher Mini-Grants: Mini-Grants allow teachers to fund class specific materials or activities, enhancing the learning process. The PTA offers Mini-Grants of up to $800 per teacher to fund materials and supplies for class activities or projects.  
  • Teacher and Staff Professional Development: Professional development allows our teachers to remain nimble in the ever changing educational environment. 
  • Portable Drinking Water: The PTA funds drinking water in all the portables. This allows students access to potable water without having to leave during instruction time to get a drink. 
  • Recess Equipment: The PTA funds recess equipment for our students.
  • Community Events: The PTA hosts many free school events each year. These include the Harvest Carnival, the family dance, multicultural night parent socials, and grade level activities. We also provide funding for building, playground, and landscaping improvements.
