It is the mission of the North Beach Elementary PTA to foster community inclusion, child advocacy and academic excellence by facilitating communications, supporting teachers and staff, and enhancing the educational, social and physical environment of North Beach Elementary School
WELCOME TO NORTH BEACH FROM THE PTA
Hello new and returning families! The PTA is an organization composed of North Beach parents, teachers, and staff. Our mission is “to foster community inclusion, child advocacy and academic excellence by facilitating communications, supporting teachers and staff, and enhancing the educational, social and physical environment of North Beach Elementary School." For more than 100 years PTA has advocated for kids on the local, state and national level. Child labor laws, universal kindergarten, school breakfast and lunch programs, and universal immunization are all things we take for granted today but each were hard-fought victories for PTA.
We need your support! It really does take a village to raise a child. State funding of our schools still does not fully fund essential programs and supplies at our school. Financial donations from North Beach families and friends fund school supplies, library books, art supplies, etc. North Beach families also contribute volunteer hours for those necessary things that ensure our kids’ educational experiences are optimized. How can you help?
Join. 100% PTA membership as it is a concrete indicator of parent support and is useful in interactions with the Seattle School District. The membership form is available online and will also go out in early September.
Donate. The Annual Giving Campaign (AGC) is a primary fundraiser for our school. This is a simple ask for money. Our parents, over the years, have considered it a hassle-free way to raise money, as it does not require selling car washes, wrapping paper, or coupon books. Every donated dime directly funds our school programs. The AGC funds essential academic enhancements such as tutors, professional development for North Beach teachers and staff, and programs that the Seattle School District no longer funds. We also hold an auction to raise funds for school programs. The auction is a fun, social night for parents, which raises money that directly impacts the classroom and our children.
Volunteer. We need volunteers! The PTA is recruiting for committee members and short-term volunteer opportunities. Do you have experience fund raising, coordinating, or planning? Do you have a special interest or skill? Do you have neither but want to help? Join us! There are volunteer opportunities in the classroom, library, around the school and from your home. We are very aware that most of us are working full time, and this year we are focusing on providing a streamlined volunteer process and opportunities to reflect this reality.
Participate in Community events. Our PTA hosts a ton of fun events for our families. As we get closer to the beginning of the school year, our website and Konstella will be the best places to find information on what is coming up next. To whet your appetite, we will likely have a back-to-school picnic, a harvest carnival, and a winter dance.
